Fosse Friday 060 - 4 July 2025: Patchy pitches, poor treatment and pre-season spam
This week's update is posting pre-season content like it's all fine
The good
All of our pre-season friendlies are going to be available to stream for free via the Foxes Hub and YouTube.
Excellent news, following the £10-per-match fee charged last summer. First up is Peterborough tomorrow, it's a 12.30 kick off and a first chance to see what a potential eleven could look like from the current squad.
This was a slow news week. So we are at the ‘The VS foundation has donated some bibs to local schools’ section of the programme already.
The Foxes Trust end of season survey results are in and you can join an online webinar to hear the results. With 3,200 Foxes fans taking part, it’s a chance to see how the fanbase responded and how the Foxes Trust will relay the results to the club.
The webinar is on Tuesday 8th July starting at 8pm and will run for 1 hour. It is open to all Leicester City Supporters whether or not you are a Trust member.
You can register to join by following the below options:
The bad
Our sympathies are back with the LCFC social media admins, who are having to peddle out upbeat, optimistic content that definitely doesn't reference our lack of a first team manager. Or how decimated the backroom staff are.
Andy King is the only real coaching presence in the videos so far and presumably taking charge of the side on Saturday.
Still, with gems like this and the key buzzword of intensity (Brendan - is that you?), who’s complaining.
We're 5 weeks out from the Championship season kicking off. So it was a little worrying to see the state of the King Power pitch during the England v Jamaica women’s game at the weekend. Bald patches galore.
Were they waiting for this before they lay a new one or is there some magic spray ready to grow it all back?
You could play a game of whose line is this:
“The year I went back (to Leicester) was really good to be fair, I was on the bench, played cup games and then finished the season. But we got relegated and after that it has just been carnage: not letting me go and stuff like that.
There’s a lot in the background people don’t know; it’s been frustrating. I had a lot of options to get out and play but so many people have to agree about a deal, which is what killed it really.
I have been waiting for two-and-a-half years to get out and play again.”
It’s easy to sympathise with Daniel Iversen. The treatment looked poor publicly and this suggests it’s much worse behind the scenes. The real surprise is that it’s taken this long for a player to say something like this.
The daft
Behold the end of the Birthday FC era, we’re in our Retirement era now*
*For a captain who couldn’t wait to run away from the sinking ship.
What's dafter? Our commercial manager getting headhunted by Hibs OR them saying the following?
"Dan is an ambitious, forward thinking leader with experience not only in football but sports organisations across the world.
His commercial nous and track record of implementing successful strategies will greatly benefit a number of areas."
It doesn't outrightly say a track record at Leicester to be fair. Maybe this helps explain why the current commercial strategy feels like a question mark.
And another job to fill, yay!
It’s been months with no updates but, breaking news: The US shop seems to be back online!
Now we just need to announce our new kits so fans stateside have a chance of having them in their hands before we play Sheffield Wednesday.
This week brought one of the least surprising transfer announcements. Welsh international *cough* Danny Ward has rejoined his boyhood club, Wrexham.
Their manager explained exactly why they brought Ward in:
“He’s a keeper with a lot of experience and he’s going to be a great addition to the squad.”
The reaction from Wrexham fans seems mixed and it’s likely Ward is coming in as their number two. He definitely has a lot of experience in that department.
Has anyone spotted Jelle ten Rouwelaar at training yet?
Hot goss
How long until we rename this to ‘tepid goss’? Because it’s still a slow week for anything that feels like a realistic rumour.
But the busiest man on socials, Fabz Romano, has suggested Nottingham Forest are considering adding Victor Kristiansen to their squad. And so are Sunderland.
We’re being linked with a kid that’s got a name like a Football Manager regen - Jayden Carbon from Oxford.
Thing we learned
Gone are the days when relegation meant the return of Saturday 3pm kickoffs. These days, you’re far more likely to be carted around the schedule if you’re a Championship title contender than a Premier League whipping boy.
So here are our confirmed fixtures for August and September with TV games in bold - 6 out of the 8 are televised:
Sheffield Wednesday (H) Sunday 10 August - 4:30pm
Preston North End (A) Saturday 16 August - 3pm
Charlton Athletic (A) Saturday 23 August - 12:30pm
Birmingham City (H) Friday 29 August - 8pm
Oxford United (A) Saturday 13 September - 12:30pm
Coventry City (H) Saturday 20 September - 12:30pm
West Bromwich Albion (A) Friday 26 September - 8pm
Wrexham (A) Tuesday 30 September - 7:45pm
One last thing…
We’re all just waiting for some news or some actual signings, so why not a caption contest. Are they looking at a ‘Guess Who’ board with options for the next manager could be or is Harry helping Conor find Glasgow on a map?
Give us your best suggestion.

At the time of writing (8/7/25) we’re still unsure of our next manager. Suggestions are abound, let’s conclude (should he willing) with Sean Dyche. I can hear the hoots of derision now, but please hear me out? Wilder, although adept at this level, I feel, can be a little bit of a loose cannon in his regard to officials. Not forgetting his role as the prodigal Blades’ son was soon ended recently. Rohl has, largely no track record, and Gary O’Neil no proven track record. Which leaves us with a nearby local lad, Dyche. As we’ve all heard, we need to reset; our next appointment NEEDS to be the right one. Foxes fans (the younger ones at least) need to realise it is 10 (yes TEN), years since the win, and for a generation, Vardy-less. We’ve been in the VIP lounge at the Prem’s nightspot, roughing up the big boys; but now we’ve been chucked out. Forest, Brighton and Brentford are now having a go, but at least we did the business. Now we’re out to grass in that huge expanse of the EFL. But we need to restart somewhere. Dyche knows this level, he’s done it with Burnley. And if, IF, we got promoted, he would be more adept to keeping us there I feel. He did with Everton. The football may not be to our liking; nor was Maresca’s. But I would prefer to moan about the standard of football from the Premier League, as opposed to the Championship, or heaven forbid League One.
